Meet Amanda Dawson
Amanda Dawson
Amanda enrolled in the Certificate III Individual Support (Disability) course with determination and willingness to commit to the course and achieve a successful outcome. Amanda has anxiety and has some literacy hurdles to overcome and she is certainly doing just that. She chose this course as she is a foster mum and has had children with varying disabilities and felt that she wanted to help others in the community. She is always caring and supportive to her classmates which helps to create a positive class environment.
Amanda has little education herself leaving school in Year 9 and has trouble with reading and spelling but is always prepared to learn. She thought she would never be able to achieve this qualification being a single mother to 6 daughters, but with the support of her trainer, student support and the training coordinator she has felt so much more confident. She is studying this course with her daughter. The smaller class setting has provided her with better support and provided more opportunities for 1-to-1 support from the trainer.
